Profeet Podiatry 5000m Handicap

Apart from the occasional shower, conditions were ideal for the 89 starters in the Profeet Podiatry Four Bridges 5 km handicap at Fyansford. The predominately flat course favours frontmarkers and this was the case with Cate Shay winning by 2 seconds from Paul Austin with Daryl Hurst thirty metres astern in third place. Shay recently completed a four day trail race in central Australia and the training she has done for that paid dividends. It is also only two years since Shay was in hospital battling serious health issues. Sara Coulter was easily the fastest female whist youngster Jesse Gordon recorded his first fastest male honours by three seconds from Luke Haines.
