Point Lonsdale Health & Wellness ‘Not-the-Point Lonsdale’ 10 km Virtual Race
A field of 75 runners participated in the virtual running of the Point Lonsdale Health and Wellness 10 km sealed handicap. A dozen of the field ventured to Point Lonsdale to replicate the usual course. Apart from the three frosty mornings, the conditions were close to ideal for running. Newcomer Linda Gasparini defeated fellow newcomer Julie Kavanagh by 4 seconds with second season member, Kim McFadden, a further 8 seconds behind in third. Those new to the club scene made up half of the top ten, reaping the benefits of competing regularly. By finishing seventh, Catherine Allison assumed leadership of the consistency award. Hayley Newman and David Henderson were again the fastest of their gender. Sadly, the Committee has made the decision to abandon season 2020 but the good news is that the virtual race season will continue.
