Sixty hardy souls gathered for the 49th running of the Windows by Geoff Case 10 km King of the Mountains at the You Yangs yesterday. The strong wind made for bitter conditions and the toughness of the course meant the backmarkers were favoured. So it proved with third year runner, Jack Donovan, winning by 300 metres from two time King of the Mountains, Daryl Burns, with Rachael Thompson a further 50 metres behind in third place. It was Donovan’s second club win and he attributed his fine performance to the hill work he does with the Geelong Performance Coaching squad. First season runner, Catherine Allison was the fastest female whilst Burns was the fastest male, both by comfortable margins. Madeline Crawford led all the way to win the consolation 5km.
